Morning Songs, Morning Smiles

The kids are so happy when they start the day now. They give us the sweetest smiles, coos and chirps.

Morning Dance

One of the unfortunate side effects of the antibiotics that Kristin was taking to fight the infection is that both Annika and Luka developed a nasty case of thrush.

It has  taken about three weeks and several different tactics and medications to get it under control. In the meantime, the kids have been feeling uncomfortable and have been pretty fussy at times. It was clear they just didn't feel well.

Now, with the thrush finally going away, they have bounced back to their happy selves. 

Here are some early, early morning pictures taken by Kristin yesterday:

Modern Family Outing

And Kristin's first bike ride in over a year!

André pushed the stroller and wrangled the dogs while Kristin enjoyed some much needed exercise and play time with the bike.

We ended the outing with a jaunt to Salt and Straw for some almond brittle and salted ganache ice cream, courtesy of the Abuelos.

With twins, every possible technology—including slings, paci's and ear plugs—are essential tools.

But let's not forget the need to use every extra person, limb and appendage too!

When Wayne had to head home to take care of the home front, Kim swept in to take over. 

Kim was an immense help and we missed her when she left. She immediately jumped in on night watches, errands and chores, and of course the fun stuff too.

Just don't make her eat the  Portland food, it's no Southern cuisine!

Saturday Morning Heaven

It is Saturday, right? These days and nights all melt together like a melting clock in a Dalí painting.

After a rough start with an strong willed Annika sounding her barbaric Yawp across the rooftops of the world, we eased into cradled comfort while enjoying the morning together.

Much needed snuggle time after affirming dissatisfaction with the state of the diaper and the frozen food selection in this 2 star restaurant.. Darn antibiotics!

I'm Confessin' That I Love You...

Look at that hand. It's huge! Ridiculously big.

The she-wolf and Boy Named Sue approve of the morning pace too:

Is that heaven printed on that Boppie? Buttercup thinks so! 

But Grandma thinks the new glider is the best thing in this home, next to Luka and Annika that is.

Or maybe it's the best to be in the glider with one of the two!

Vital Stats Bears

Kristin's "Mama # 2," Sonya's mom Barbara, sent us these super cute teddy bears:

Luka's lookin' good in Marty's old skull and cross bone pants - so Portland!

So sweet! And these bears will surely be helpful when—as older parents and all—we can no longer remember these vital stats anymore. 

Who are we kidding? We can't remember them now! We need to check the bears to recall them when people ask about their size and weight at birth!

And just how will Annika and Luka feel about these bears when we are still taking pictures of them with the bears as teenagers? 

Oh well, at least  they will  probably enjoy the pictures again when they are in their thirties!
